1 "ท่านโยบเจ้าข้า บัดนี้ขอฟังคำของข้าพเจ้า และฟังถ้อยคำทั้งสิ้นของข้าพเจ้า
2 ดูเถิด ข้าพเจ้าอ้าปาก ลิ้นภายในปากของข้าพเจ้าก็พูด
3 ถ้อยคำของข้าพเจ้าสำแดงความเที่ยงธรรมแห่งจิตใจและริมฝีปากของข้าพเจ้ารู้อะไรก็พูดออกมาอย่างจริงใจ
4 พระวิญญาณของพระเจ้าได้ทรงสร้างข้าพเจ้า และลมปราณขององค์ผู้ทรงมหิทธิฤทธิ์ได้ให้ชีวิตแก่ข้าพเจ้า
5 ถ้าท่านตอบข้าพเจ้าได้ ก็ตอบซี จงลำดับถ้อยคำของท่านต่อหน้าข้าพเจ้า เชิญเถอะ
6 ดูเถิด ข้าพเจ้าอยู่อย่างท่านตรงพระพักตร์พระเจ้าพระองค์ทรงปั้นข้าพเจ้าขึ้นมาจากดินก้อนหนึ่งด้วยเหมือนกัน
7 ดูเถิด อย่าให้ความกลัวข้าพเจ้า กระทำให้ท่านตกใจ ข้าพเจ้าจะไม่ชักชวนท่านหนักเกินไป
8 "แน่ละ ท่านพูดให้ข้าพเจ้าฟัง และข้าพเจ้าได้ยินเสียงถ้อยคำของท่าน
9 ท่านว่า "ข้าพเจ้าสะอาด ปราศจากการทรยศ ข้าพเจ้าบริสุทธิ์ ไม่มีความบาปผิดในข้าพเจ้าเลย
10 ดูเถิด พระองค์ทรงหาเรื่องกับข้าพเจ้า พระองค์ทรงนับว่าข้าพเจ้าเป็นศัตรูกับพระองค์
11 พระองค์ทรงเอาเท้าของข้าพเจ้าใส่ขื่อไว้ และทรงเฝ้าดูทางของข้าพเจ้าทั้งสิ้น"
12 "ดูเถิด ในเรื่องนี้ท่านไม่ยุติธรรมเลย ข้าพเจ้าจะตอบท่าน พระเจ้าใหญ่ยิ่งกว่ามนุษย์
13 ทำไมท่านจึงโต้แย้งกับพระองค์ ว่า "พระองค์จะไม่ทรงตอบถ้อยคำของเขาเลย"
14 เพราะพระเจ้าตรัสวิธีหนึ่ง เออ สองวิธี แต่มนุษย์ไม่หยั่งรู้ได้
15 ในความฝัน ในนิมิตกลางคืน เมื่อคนหลับสนิท เมื่อเขาเคลิบเคลิ้มอยู่บนที่นอนของเขา
16 แล้วพระองค์ทรงเบิกหูของมนุษย์ และทรงสั่งสอนอย่างลับๆ
17 เพื่อว่าพระองค์จะได้หันให้มนุษย์กลับจากกิจการของเขา และตัดความเย่อหยิ่งออกเสียจากมนุษย์
18 พระองค์ทรงยึดเหนี่ยววิญญาณของเขาไว้จากปากแดนคนตาย และยึดชีวิตของเขาไว้จากการที่จะพินาศด้วยดาบ
19 "มนุษย์ยังถูกตีสอนด้วยความเจ็บปวดบนที่นอนของเขาด้วย และด้วยการขัดแย้งเสมอในกระดูกของเขา
20 ชีวิตของเขาจึงได้เบื่ออาหาร และจิตใจจึงได้เบื่ออาหารโอชะ
21 เนื้อของเขาทรุดโทรมไปมากจนมองไม่เห็น กระดูกของเขาซึ่งแลไม่เห็นนั้นก็โผล่ออกมา
22 เออ วิญญาณของเขาเข้าไปใกล้ปากแดนคนตาย และชีวิตของเขาเข้าใกล้ผู้ที่นำความตายมา
23 ถ้ามีทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งมาเพื่อเขา เป็นล่าม หนึ่งในพัน เพื่อแถลงแก่มนุษย์ว่าอะไรถูกเพื่อเขา
24 และทูตนั้นกรุณาเขา ทูลว่า "ขอทรงปล่อยเขาให้พ้นจากที่จะไปยังปากแดนคนตายข้าพระองค์พบค่าไถ่แล้ว
25 เนื้อของเขาจะอ่อนกว่าเนื้อเด็ก ขอให้เขากลับไปสู่กำลังเหมือนเมื่อยังหนุ่ม"
26 เขาจึงอธิษฐานต่อพระเจ้า และพระองค์จะทรงพอพระทัยเขา เขาจะเข้ามาเฝ้าต่อพระพักตร์ พระองค์ด้วยความชื่นบาน
27 แล้วพระองค์จะทรงให้มนุษย์กลับสู่สภาพความชอบธรรม และเขาจะร้องเพลงต่อหน้าประชาชน กล่าวว่า "ข้าบาปแล้ว และเห็นผิดเป็นชอบ และมิได้ทรงลงโทษสนองข้า
28 พระองค์ทรงไถ่วิญญาณจิตของข้า ให้พ้นจากการลงไปสู่ปากแดนคนตาย และชีวิตของข้าจะเห็นความสว่าง"
29 "ดูเถิด พระเจ้าทรงกระทำสิ่งเหล่านี้ทั้งสิ้นกับมนุษย์สองครั้ง สามครั้ง
30 เพื่อจะนำวิญญาณจิตของเขามาจากปากแดนคนตายเพื่อให้เขาเห็นความสว่างแห่งชีวิต
31 ท่านโยบเจ้าข้า ขอตั้งใจฟังข้าพเจ้า ขอเงียบ และข้าพเจ้าจะพูด
32 ถ้าท่านมีอะไรพูดก็ตอบข้าพเจ้ามาเถอะ เพราะข้าพเจ้าปรารถนาแก้คดีให้ท่าน
33 ถ้าหาไม่ ก็ขอฟังข้าพเจ้า ขอเงียบ และข้าพเจ้าจะสอนปัญญาให้แก่ท่าน"

Job 33
1 Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.
2 Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.
3 My words [shall be of] the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.
4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
5 If thou canst answer me, set [thy words] in order before me, stand up.
6 Behold, I [am] according to thy wish in God's stead: I also am formed out of the clay.
7 Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.
8 Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of [thy] words, [saying],
9 I am clean without transgression, I [am] innocent; neither [is there] iniquity in me.
10 Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,
11 He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.
12 Behold, [in] this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.
13 Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
14 For God speaketh once, yea twice, [yet man] perceiveth it not.
15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
16 Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,
17 That he may withdraw man [from his] purpose, and hide pride from man.
18 He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
19 He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong [pain]:
20 So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.
21 His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones [that] were not seen stick out.
22 Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.
23 If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:
24 Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
25 His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth:
26 He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
27 He looketh upon men, and [if any] say, I have sinned, and perverted [that which was] right, and it profited me not;
28 He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.
29 Lo, all these [things] worketh God oftentimes with man,
30 To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.
31 Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.
32 If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.
33 If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.
